"Getting Inside Without Mishap or Mayhem!"

Dear Reader(s),

Well, you've got your vehicle parked, now let's play pedestrian, get a cart, & get in the building safely!  Decision time - do you get a cart out in the lot, or wait until you enter Wally World?  Answer - depends on where you parked.  If you are by the Garden Entrance, snag a cart as soon as you can.  Wally World rarely has carts available by that entrance.  If you are going in the main or grocery entrances, it's fine to wait on the cart.

Dealbreaker - wheels that don't work properly!  They should roll easily, no squeaks (very annoying as you head down the aisles), and not have "stuff" wrapped around the wheels.  Another item to check out - is there garbage left in the cart?  If so, leave that cart & keep looking.

Once you are headed for the store, a few caveats.  First, it is the survival of the fittest.  REMEMBER - drivers negotiating the parking lot DO NOT CARE that the usual rule is "pedestrians have the right-of-way."  They are so glad to have escaped the store, so they are speeding  away (quickly).  They will not stop for you - do not expect it.  Also, they will swoop into a lane or parking spot on a moment's notice.  You simply must subscribe to a "defensive walking" strategy.  Stay on the side of the lanes (it doesn't matter which side, as drivers are all over the place), but stay alert!  If you are with someone else, don't get into a heavy conversation - each of you should be focused on looking in different directions for on-coming vehicles.

Goal - the sidewalk in front of the store.  Even there you are not safe - too many other pedestrians wandering around - some with carts & some without.  Advice - try to get through the door ASAP.  Don't stop to look at the displays outside the doors - too many people darting around, too confusing, too many carts.  Just grab your cart & get inside - now!

Next adventure: to greet or not to greet . . . . that is the question!
